SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills, California – American Poker Awards night belonged to the two Daniels as they were recognized for their achievements in the poker industry. Daniel Negreanu who has consistently dominated the poker circuit for over a decade won the prestigious People Choice Award for Poker’s Best Ambassador. The award was given on the basis of the fan’s choice and it was no surprise that Negreanu was chosen. The champion poker player who was recently inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame is a clear fan favorite as he always takes the time to sign autographs, take pictures and interact with his fans either on social media or in person. Negreanu was happy to receive this award and thanked his fans for their support and also his parents who raised him to be the man he is today. 

Daniel Colman had an outstanding 2014 as he won a number of prestigious events including the Big One for One Drop at the World Series of Poker where the buy-in was $1,000,000. He was duly recognized with the 2014 Poker Player of the Year award but he did not collect the award as he was not in attendance. The controversial Colman was also nominated for the Tournament Performance of the Year and the Breakout Performance in 2014 but did not win. The winners were given elegantly crafted silver trophies along with a limited edition Roger Dubuis watch in recognition for their poker achievements in 2014.

The next GPI awards ceremony will take place in Malta towards the end of March 2015 where the GPI European Poker Awards will recognize the top poker players in Europe.

3^rd March, 2015 - CONGRESSIONAL HEARING ON RAWA

House Subcommittee hearing on the Restoration of America's Wire Act (RAWA) legislation is stacked against Internet poker as expected.

It's typical for such hearings in a Republican-controlled subcommittee to have three witnesses chosen by Republicans and one by Democrats. It's obvious that Aftab is the Democrat choice while the Republicans have made three choices for Adelson rather than provide a diverse panel. 

Poker Players Alliance executive director John Pappas hoped that the Republicans would give one spot to a representative of the many conservative groups who have come out against RAWA as a violation of state rights, personal rights and Internet freedom. 

In addition to Aftab, Pappas suggested that appropriate witnesses to provide balance to the proceedings would have been someone such as Michelle Minton from the Competitive Enterprise Institute to talk about the Wire Act and its application, or a regulator from New Jersey or Nevada.

"Those types of people should have been given consideration," Pappas said. "It's very concerning that the committee is ignoring key issues and shutting those people out to stack the deck solely for those one-sided anti-Internet advocates."

5^th March, 2015 – PARTY POKER NEW  JERSEY ADDED NEW EVENTS

 

From March 9, partypoker New Jersey is adding three new guaranteed events to its tournament schedule. It is also increasing the guarantee on another tournament, and introducing satellites for its Heads Up events.

The three new events include a $3,000 guaranteed rebuy tournament with a $35 buy-in that will run on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday at 2:30pm local time. There are also two $2,000 guaranteed tournaments—one is a PLO rebuy with a $25 but-in that will run on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 4:30pm, and a 6-max event with a $75 buy-in that will run at 8:30 pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.
